    As Sr. Accountant, you will be an integral part of two, highly visible on-going initiatives; The “Foundation” and Digital Team Initiatives within Nutrien Ag Solutions - the retail division of Nutrien, the world’s largest provider of crop inputs and services.  The Foundation initiative is  focused on the implementation of SAP and will completely transform and modernize our Point of Sale and Back-Office accounting systems.  The Foundation team, comprised of a combination of dedicated back-office and field personnel, is committed to the successful planning, roll-out, transition and completion of this project.  The Digital team is revolutionizing the Ag industry with cutting edge technology.  The team is comprised of developers, engineers, data scientists, research experts and others who are leveraging technology to improve outcomes for the growers we serve and to put new technology into the hands of our salespeople. 


    The Sr. Accountant will work closely and cross-functionally within the organization, including with Management and  Leadership to establish and communicate cost and timeline reporting expectations as well as creating reports, dashboards and KPI metrics to effectively monitor the project’s financial status/progress. Your efforts will ensure effective accounting processes and information are in place, ultimately contributing to success.  


    Key Tasks:

    • Responsible for cost analysis and reporting on the Foundation and Digital initiatives
    • Create and implement reporting, dashboards and KPIs to track the project’s financial progress
    • Make decisions determining approach to managing and completing processes
    • Ensure compliance with controls, requirements, policies and procedures
    • Develop/maintain desktop procedures and process documentation for area of responsibility
    • Review all incoming invoices for accuracy, proper approvals, and coding
    • Responsible for reconciliation of invoices and budgets
    • Ensure invoices are in accordance with contract requirements and documents
    • Interact with vendors regarding invoice issues and requests for detailed information
    • Update and analyze project budgets and forecasts for accuracy
    • Provide support, assist and guide project team with cost management
    • Respond to special requests for accounting/financial information internally and externally
    • Compare work completed to date against forecasted schedule
    • Monitor job progress and potential overruns against budgets
    • Work closely with Leaders on project budgets – actual vs. cost to complete
    • Update financial/operational reporting and budget preparation
    • Prepare journal entries to make necessary corrections, allocations, accruals and reclassifications
    • Assist in maintaining effective relationships with internal and external clients
    • Attend project-related meetings and collaborate with the project team
    • Other duties as assigned

    • BA/BS in Accounting/Finance or related
    • 3-5 or more years of Accounting/Finance experience
    • 3-5 years of large-scale project management experience
    • Experience in financial analysis budgeting, forecasting and long range planning
    • Experience with review and reconciliation of vendor invoices for large scale projects
    • Experience creating and implementing reporting procedures for large scale projects
    • Experience in project accounting, tracking invoices, budgets and contract management
    • Experience in developing regular reports for Senior Management tracking project costs and budgets
    • Strong MS Excel skills
