    As the Senior Accountant, you will be an integral part of the Digital team within Nutrien Ag Solutions - the Retail division of Nutrien, the world’s largest provider of crop inputs and services. The Digital team is revolutionizing the Ag industry with cutting edge technology.  The team is comprised of developers, engineers, data scientists, research experts and others who are leveraging technology to improve outcomes for the growers we serve and to put new technology into the hands of our salespeople. 

     

    The Senior Accountant will work closely and partner with Program Managers and Digital Leadership to establish and communicate cost and timeline reporting expectations as well as creating financial reports, dashboards and KPI metrics to effectively monitor the business’s financial status/progress. Your efforts will ensure effective accounting processes and information are in place, ultimately contributing to business success.

     

    Key Tasks:

    • Responsible for cost analysis and reporting on the Digital business.
    • Work directly with Program Managers and Digital Leadership to identify reporting metrics and KPIs
    • Create and implement financial reporting, dashboards and KPIs to track the program’s financial progress
    • Ensure compliance with controls, requirements, policies and procedures
    • Develop/maintain desktop procedures and process documentation for area of responsibility
    • Review all incoming invoices for accuracy, proper approvals, and coding
    • Responsible for reconciliation of invoices, accruals and budgets
    • Ensure invoices are in accordance with contract requirements and documents
    • Interact with vendors regarding invoice issues and requests for detailed information
    • Update and analyze budgets and forecasts for accuracy
    • Provide support, assist and guide the Digital team with cost management
    • Respond to special requests for accounting/financial information internally and externally
    • Compare work completed to date against forecasted schedule
    • Monitor job progress and potential overruns against budgets
    • Work closely with Leaders on budgets – actual vs. cost to complete
    • Update financial/operational reporting and budget preparation
    • Prepare and enter journal entries to make necessary corrections, allocations and reclassifications
    • Assist in maintaining effective relationships with internal and external clients
    • Attend Digital meetings and collaborate with the project team
    • Other duties as assigned

    • Strong MS Excel skills – financial modeling, formulas, financial statements
    • Strong presentation skills with the ability to comfortably speak to all levels of management
    • Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills

    Qualifications:

    • BA/BS in Accounting
    • 3 -5 or more years of Accounting experience
    • Experience in financial analysis budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning
    • Experience creating and implementing reports and procedures
