    Seasonal Agronomy Assistant - Edgerton, AB (2019 Spring Season - May to October with possible extension)

    Key Tasks:

     

    Crop Scouting

    • Assisting in ensuring seed is planted at the right rate and at the right depth.
    • Conducting plant counts and taking field notes on crop emergence.
    • Scouting production fields to identifying problem weeds and insects
    • Conducting counts of volunteer plants in the production fields.
    • Manage the isolation needs of the control throughout the season.
    • Scouting future seed production fields for volunteers and objectionable weeds.
    • Utilizing our best in class field management system to take field notes throughout the season.

     

     Leading a team

    • Facilitate the planning and logistics of field work to the required areas
    • Supervising crews in the field responsible for hand removing undesired plants
    • Ensuring the work performed is done safely and effectively
    • Reading, understanding and following all standard operating procedures, safety policies and training documents relating to the listed duties.
    • Other duties and projects as required

    Qualifications: 

    • Agriculture, Business or Science Degree student, or Diploma student, or graduate
    • Demonstrated ability to actively participate in a collaborative environment
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently
    • Valid driver's license required; Driving record will be reviewed
    • Travel required
