Position Summary:

The position will report to the Manager – Technical Services. This is a new position and the person’s primary responsibility will be the successful day-to-day management of agronomic research data, acquisition, utilization, and analysis. They will be the main contact for all inquiries and will provide training and technical support on the LPI Database (LPIDB), the Statistical Research Trial Database (SRTDB) and the Trial Process Manager (TPM). The position will be required to enter new and/or coordinate existing trial data into these programs from various countries and data sources. Providing support and assistance during the introduction of the LPI Statistical Research Database and the Trial Process Manager to the USA initially, and then other countries will be required. Maintaining data integrity and report generation will be critical to the success of this program. The ability to design and develop reports which provide high quality information and assist with decision making will be essential. Experience in statistical analysis of agricultural research trial work will be highly regarded. The position will provide support to a team of Proprietary Product Managers, Tech Service Reps, Regulatory Specialists and Marketing Managers.


Essential Functions:

  • Primary contact for and manager of LPIDB, SRTDB and TPM.
  • Day-to-day management and support of the LPIDB, SRTDB and TPM.
  • Responsible for database architecture, design and automation to ensure high availability of the business applications. Lead contact with XS Inc.
  • Responsible for data integrity
  • Responsible for entering and loading new or existing trial data into the database for all LPI countries or coordinate these activities with 3rd party developers.
  • Responsible for maintaining a master list of products - standardized language
  • Understanding of statistics and the ability to perform statistical analysis of data
  • Lead person in report design and implementation
  • Project lead when introducing program to other countries.
  • Ensure database administration tasks including upgrades, security patches, backups/restores, space allocation, etc. on Development, Test, Staging, and Production database instances are planned and executed
  • Improving the effectiveness of the database tools and services
  • Ensuring all the data complies with legal regulations
  • Making sure the information is protected and backed-up
  • Regular reporting to the teams you work with
  • Monitoring database performance
  • Improving the technology used
  • Monitoring data entry procedures
  • Troubleshooting
  • Assist management, sales, tech services, marketing, international and regulatory personnel with information needs.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Good attendance required


  • Agronomic degrees or individuals with prior experience managing agricultural databases are preferred.
  • At least 3 - 5 years’ experience managing databases.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills (distinguishing between OS, HW, Database and/or application failures)
  • Excellent overall communication and leadership skills, especially when explaining and sharing technical requirements and information with end users.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to influence
  • Proven ability to develop and retain business relationships
  • Willingness and ability to travel (estimated to be 10% to 20%)
