Reporting to the Manager, Seed Accounting, this position is responsible for preparing costing and financial analysis for the growing Dyna-Gro seed business.  A successful candidate will create system and process improvements to ensure timely accurate and insightful reporting is available to manage the seed business. In addition to ad hoc financial analysis, the position will be responsible for organizing audit and tax reporting schedules. The position will also have some responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, general ledger entry, and Cognos report building.


Key Tasks:

  • Produces cost analysis for Dyna-Gro pricing models.
  • Manage cost accounting calculating and reviewing overhead rates and ERP system costs
  • Provide monthly commodity price analysis and monitor potential market hedging opportunities.
  • Produce product forecast worksheets for product line managers.
  • Monitor pricing loaded into CPS systems (PeopleSoft, BPCS, & proprietary databases).
  • Forecast product sales and production for internal and external reporting
  • GL entry and Account reconciliation for a seed manufacturing facility.
  • Perform analysis of manufacturing variance and financial performance of the Dyna-Gro Seed business.
  • Develop and summarize annual budget data.
  • Assist with process improvement initiatives including ERP system implementation and acquisition integration.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Cost, manufacturing, inventory accounting experience a plus
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and procedures
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Cognos, & general database management a plus)
  • Self-starter; ability to work with limited direction
  • Seed experience a plus


  • BA/BS degree in accounting, or equivalent experience and education preferred
