Reporting to the Facility Manager, the candidate will work under established Crop Consultants. You will report to one supervisor who is responsible for your schedule, safety procedure training and agronomy training including weed, insect and disease identification, pest and crop population counts, crop and weed staging and other diagnostic issues that may occur in fields.  You will have daily contact with your supervisor along with location representatives and other employees as required.  You will be supplied with equipment to do your job.

 

Key Tasks:

  • Scout fields- record weed, insect, disease and other observations
  • Learn agronomy and sales skills
  • Perform petiole, tissue, soil and water sampling
  • Inspect crops for nutritional deficiencies
  • Complete crop inspection reports for crop consultant
  • Help out with deliveries (CDL not required, but would be willing to get it)
  • Help out with day to day work at the location, ARS entries, general labor around the facility
  • Learn computer recommendation and billing programs

 

Qualifications: 

  • The trainee plays an important role in field scouting services offered to help make timely informed and economical field crop decisions.  If the facility manager feels the trainee has the required skill set, the candidate will transition to a consulting position
  • Ag Based Degree
  • Preference given to individuals with agriculture background/work experience
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time under all weather conditions
  • Above average organizational skills, ability to understand new concepts and learn quickly, complete work targets with little or no supervision in a timely manner, self-motivated
  • Ability to pass drug and alcohol screening
